Grant Awarded To Avondale Borough

The Borough of Avondale is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from The Chester County Board of Commissioners to survey and map our Water, Sanitary and Storm Sewer Systems.

We deeply grateful to the County Commissioners and the Department of Community Development for investing in our Borough, Avondale. Their support means so much, and we are committed to using these resources responsibly to benefit our community.

Some history: The borough is currently losing around 48% of its potable water supply. Identifying the origins of the losses is essential for curbing these losses. The borough is also experiencing a surge of up to 300,000 extra gallons of wastewater during significant storms and an increase of 100,000 gallons for every inch of rain during less severe storms due to I&I. The grant will provide the resources necessary to locate and address these issues, leading to a reduction in treatment costs of treating ‘clean’ wastewater.

How we’ll use these funds: With these funds the Borough will survey and map Avondale Borough’s water, sewer, and stormwater systems to locate and repair leaks, reduce wastewater treatment costs, and improve water quality and access.

Check in on the Borough website to follow our progress with this project and others. Also, please attend our public meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7 pm.  www.avondaleboro.net
