Avondale Borough Pollinator Garden

Avondale Borough is deeply grateful to the Dockstader Foundation, Josie’s Native Plants, and the many residents and friends who have generously contributed plants, time, and financial support to create and maintain our pollinator gardens.

We started the first pollinator garden in 2023 along Third Street at Thompson Brown Park. We began by eliminating herbicide use and planting a mix of native wildflower annuals and perennials—over 90% of the plants and seeds are native species, enriching local biodiversity and creating a thriving environment for pollinators.

By 2025, thanks to continued support from the Dockstader Foundation, Josie’s Native Plants, and our community volunteers, we were able to expand the pollinator gardens to include areas around the Avondale Borough Office and the edges of Veteran’s Memorial Park.

We invite you to visit and see the gardens in bloom—and try to spot some of the native plants we’ve carefully selected and planted. Don’t forget to check out our full list of flowers and learn more about the species that make our gardens so special.
